Ours has gone too, but I quite like the tidiness it creates.

Ours went New Years Eve, the house always looks tidier when its down

Yep – did that a few days ago and strangely I was quite happy to get it out of the way for once…almost as if I have unknown plans to be getting on with.

Ours is coming down tonight. We are having to do it when my little boy has gone to bed as he won't let us touch it. I can envisage tears in the morning though!

Ours has gone too. I love putting it up, but also love taking it down, it makes the house feel bigger 🙂

I always think it makes the house seem so empty when all the Christmas decorations have been put away. I much prefer the chaos of Christmas 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your photos this year 🙂

It is always a bit weird though I do like having the space back

I like that this is in monochrome, it is a sad day and it doesn't deserve any colour. I feel miffed that ours has had to come down.

    Thanks for linking up

always makes me sad when i have to do this

It is always so sad to take the tree down. I haven't got to it yet

I hate to see Christmas end. Makes me sad to take down decorations. I miss the movies and music……

Ours goes away 31st December ready for the new year. So appropriate that this is black and white x

    January 6, 2013 at 12:37 am

Like others I think it's very appropriate that it's in monochrome. Unfortunately we weren't in a position to put a tree up this year but we weren't here for Christmas either.

It's the bittersweet tidiness that's all that makes it worthwhile.
    Popping over from TBAM's linky.

it is such a sad day, we'll be doing our's tomorrow, not looking forard to the blankness

*wipes away tear* SO sad, I've secretly kept hold of some fairy lights to jazz up the place again 😉

That will be our scene later on today. Christmas is officially over for another year.

Ours came down yesterday, the house looks so bare now! I like this in black & white.

We took ours down on Thursday, the entire lounge is still covered in pine needles!! I am sure I shall still be finding them in July, hate taking down the decorations, roll on December 2013 🙂

Our was down on the 27th! Just not enough room for it once Santa has been!

Ah yes, always looks so empty without it

I've been toying with the idea of keeping the fairy lights down so I can use them in the bedroom somehow when I've decorated. I love fairy lights and really miss them when the decs go away!

Ours came down on the 2nd. The window bay looks bare now!

I know, usually I'm the same, but this year for some reason I feel sad about it…

  26. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:43 pm

Perhaps it's because our tree went up late (just a week before Christmas) that it doesn't feel like it's been up long enough. Thanks for popping by!

  27. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:44 pm

Now that Christmas and New Year are over I also feel as if I have things to do – I feel really optimistic about this year. Thanks for your comment!

  28. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:45 pm

This is the first year Dot has helped me take down the tree (also the first year she has really helped me put it up). Thank you for your comment!

  29. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:46 pm

I know what you mean – the room does seem a lot bigger now it's down. Thanks for stopping by!

  30. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:47 pm

Thank you Jess. I don't know how I'm going to think of something new to photograph every day until the end of the year, but I'm certainly up for the challenge! Thanks for popping by.

  31. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:49 pm

Me too, but I doubt Dot will leave the space empty for long. At 11-years-old she manages to spread her things everywhere. Thanks for popping by to say hello!

  32. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:50 pm

That's the atmosphere I was going for – I'm glad you got it, I was worried it was just me. Thanks for hosting the linky and your comment!

  33. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:51 pm

I know, but if we didn't take the tree down we wouldn't be able to look forward to putting it up again next Christmas I suppose. Thanks for stopping by to say hello!

It's the post-Christmas job I dislike the most I think. Thanks for your comment!

  35. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:54 pm

I know, we have such a big build up to it and then it's over so quickly. But that said, so much to look forward to with a new year. Thank you for your comment!

  36. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 7:58 pm

Thank you, my photography isn't great but I was trying to convey the sadness. Thank you for stopping by!

I hope you were somewhere lovely for Christmas? Now Dot is older I think I would like to spend Christmas somewhere different one year. Thank you for your comment!

Good to meet you and thanks for stopping by! I do know what you mean – but the tidiness doesn't last in our house, no matter what time of year it is.

  39. Lisa

You said it! Thanks for your comment!

  40. Lisa

If your kids are anything like mine then the blankness won't hang around for long. That's the happy think I think, in that the emptiness left by the tree is soon taken up by family chaos. Thanks for stopping by!

  41. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 8:05 pm

Great idea. I have a bunch of long twig things with fairy lights on, not the same as a Christmas tree but they are pretty and help keep the cosy glow going. Thanks for popping over to say hello!

  42. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 8:09 pm

Packed away and back in the loft. Still, there's the rest of the Christmas chocolates to eat so I can keep the festive feelings going for a few more days. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you, I thought black and white suited the mood. Good to meet you, thanks for stopping by!

We used our 'everlasting' tree this year and though we didn't have pine needles, we had plastic tree bits all over the floor when we took it down – which the dog tried to eat! Thanks for your comment.

  45. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 8:15 pm

I know what you mean – gift wrap and presents everywhere. Thanks for popping over to say hello!

  46. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 8:20 pm

It takes a few days but then I do get used to it again. I have put my vase of twigs and fairy lights in the space left by the tree so I can still enjoy the lovely glow. Thanks for stopping by!

  47. Lisa

    January 6, 2013 at 8:22 pm

That's a great idea – dot had furry fairylights in her bedroom for ages, running down the edge of a cupboard. Not sure where they've gone actually. Thanks for your comment!

It's a sad moment, packing away the decs for another year, but it's amazing how quickly the extra space disappears. Thank you for stopping by to say hello!

Ours came down a few days ago, it does look bare now but there is now a bit more room for the mountain of toys

Ours came down today – but I feel relieved to have them down no more trying to stop a 1 year old and a 3 year old from throwing the baubles around and finding the cars, books, food that they have hidden in throughout the day

Ours came down a few days after Christmas so that little could have more room in our small living room to play with all of his new toys

It is. Felt this year that we should make an event of it: christmas music, food, drink. Didn't though as half way through by then.

Mine came down on 30th December – we just don't have the room for it! It is very sad though!

I hate packing away all our Christmas stuff away makes me feel so sad that Christmas has gone for a year. But I do love how big our living room feels now the tree has gone.

I live in the countryside with my dogs and cat, and I love horses, yoga and running (sometimes). Writing is what I do - I've tried other things, but keep coming back to it. And I'm learning to meditate.
