A few days in Germany…

August 29, 2012

So, I’m in Berlin!

I arrived this afternoon and I’m here until Friday evening, and I can’t wait to explore. The Concorde Hotel is gorgeous, but I can’t see much out of the window except other buildings, so I don’t know how close I am to historic places or things to see. I did mean to buy a city guide at Stansted but completely forgot.

Welcome to Berlin!

I’m here along with various other journalists for a factory tour, new home appliances launch and a visit to what promises to be the most enormous exhibition – the IFA,  the world’s largest consumer electronics show.

There will be lots of digital loveliness I’m sure, but what I’m interested in are the latest high-tech home appliances that will be making their debut at this exhibition. I’ve already heard about a transparent fridge and I’m sure there’s loads more just waiting for me to discover. All products designed to make our lives easier.

In the meantime, until I have images of those brand spanking new goodies to upload, here is my experience of Berlin so far – my room, bathroom and view from the window!

I’m making a mess already

See how the floor tiles match the vanity unit?
They continue into the shower so creating a wetroom
A chic, minimalist lamp – I like this

Bright eyes – Origins new mascara

August 28, 2012

Mascara is one product I never seem to have much luck with – too gloopy, too hard, too runny – then I found my current favourite, which I talked about here. Now perhaps there’s another contender on the horizon. Origins is launching its GinZing Brightening Mascara next month and I might just have to treat myself to it.
Containing plant extracts, vitamin E, rosemary extract and ginseng it sounds like skincare rather than mascara. Origins says it will give lift, length, definition and volume to lashes; it’s smudge proof yet also easy to take off and will make your eyes appear brighter. What’s not to like? Find it here

Neom Luxury Organics – Tranquility Bath Foam

August 27, 2012

I’ve just heard that Neom Luxury Organics is about to launch a new bath foam. Tranquillity is on sale from next week and is a gorgeous mixture of jasmine, lavender and sweet basil in an organic base containing essential oils, aloe and marshmallow. Neom already does a bath/shower oil in the same fragrance and this sounds like it will be heaven for a relaxing bath. Find it here

I live in the countryside with my dogs and cat, and I love horses, yoga and running (sometimes). Writing is what I do - I've tried other things, but keep coming back to it. And I'm learning to meditate.
