Conversations through the middle

Life from a (slightly) more mature perspective

In the heart of London town

October 4, 2012

Somerset House, The Strand, London

I was in London today and had the good fortune to be at Somerset House when the sun was shining, the sky was blue and the fountains were jumping. What a glorious October day and what an absolutely stunning building.

Travel – The Coniston Hotel

September 27, 2012

Dot and I spent a lovely evening at The Coniston Hotel in North Yorkshire a few weeks ago, it really is a lovely place and super friendly staff. I’m pleased to announce I wrote a review of our stay for online newspaper the Yorkshire Times – my first for them but not my last. You can read the review here. Let me know what you think.

A few days in Germany…

August 29, 2012

So, I’m in Berlin!

I arrived this afternoon and I’m here until Friday evening, and I can’t wait to explore. The Concorde Hotel is gorgeous, but I can’t see much out of the window except other buildings, so I don’t know how close I am to historic places or things to see. I did mean to buy a city guide at Stansted but completely forgot.

Welcome to Berlin!

I’m here along with various other journalists for a factory tour, new home appliances launch and a visit to what promises to be the most enormous exhibition – the IFA,  the world’s largest consumer electronics show.

There will be lots of digital loveliness I’m sure, but what I’m interested in are the latest high-tech home appliances that will be making their debut at this exhibition. I’ve already heard about a transparent fridge and I’m sure there’s loads more just waiting for me to discover. All products designed to make our lives easier.

In the meantime, until I have images of those brand spanking new goodies to upload, here is my experience of Berlin so far – my room, bathroom and view from the window!

I’m making a mess already

A lazy way to enjoy the summer… swan family

August 24, 2012

Loved this scene – a family of swans sunbathing on the bank of the river in delicious Dedham. Why mum and dad have cygnets this late in the year I don’t know, is it because of the awful weather earlier this year? Whatever the reason, they have a lot of growing up to do very quickly before winter hits.

I live in the countryside with my dogs and cat, and I love horses, yoga and running (sometimes). Writing is what I do - I've tried other things, but keep coming back to it. And I'm learning to meditate.
